We've learnt so much from listening to you and the different ways you've been using the tools we've shared and we can't wait to hear more. It helps us to find new features for you and it helps the community to learn new tricks to save them time - Win, Win!
This article contains some best practices for creating this content. These are just guidelines to help you to get the most out of your contribution.
You might want to start by answering these three simple questions:
- What was the problem or challenge you faced?
- How did you solve it?
- What steps would someone else take to do exactly what you did?
How to set out information to help people digest it:
Use different sections in your writing. You could use the questions above or other key steps you'd like to split information into. This helps information to be digested more easily. Think box of choloclates (with menu card) rather than a 1kg block at once.
Add headings to those sections. Headings give a visual guide to where key parts of the information are.
To add headings:
- Select the text you want to make a heading.
- Click the paragraph icon at the top of the Details box.
- Choose the appropriate heading level from the pick-list.
Your text will now be displayed as your selected heading.
Make your title a description. If your title explains what you're going to share people will know what to expect. Try starting with a progressive verb like "organising" or making statements like "how-to".
Link back to our knowledge base. If we've already got some help in our knowledge base that supports what you're doing feel free to hyperlink back to it in your post. To do that, left click and highlight the text you'd like to add a link to add click the little chain link at the end of the details menu.
Use numbered dot points for each step in your process. That helps us all to keep on track
Add some pictures. Screenshots are very helpful. Windows has the snipping tool and Mac the screenshot. Once you have a cool shot, use the icon of the little picture to upload your image to your post. Try not to make them too big though. Keep it less than 600 X 300 in pixels.
